Long Ashton Transition Village

Long Ashton community for the future

HELLO TRANSITION PEOPLE! Hope everyone has had a reasonable summer in spite of the rain!
I am writing a blurb for the leaflet/flyer to be given out at our first real public outing at the Flower Show-Saturday, Sept 6th.One small flyer could list the dates of meetings and film shows.Would it be good to make a November date(another film?) and December date (a Christmas/midwinter celebration of some kind?) so we could add more dates and people then have an Autumn/Winter Diary of Transition Events.
Another ( A4 folded?) leaflet will attempt to introduce the Transition Movement briefly, say what the L.A group is doing/plans to do in future and give ideas and info, contacts, appeal for new people etc.Hope that is ok with everyone. Please get in touch if there is anything you think should go in,stay out, or any other input!Do we need both at this stage? What do you think?
ALSO is there a local printer you can recommend? We need to do this asap for Sept 6th.Costs of this will be shared, any donations welcome.
Please remind friends, neighbours, people new to LA to support the Flower Show.If anyone has good pictures/photos/relevant articles, homegrown or homemade items/ recipes etc to display on the Transition Stall please just let anyone in the Food group know.(Margaret,Ian.Andy,Charlotte,Liz,Sue,Derryl)
We mustn't worry about making this perfect or doing too much at once - it is great that we just have a presence at this popular local event and make connections.Transition spreads steadily, building community links, and I think we are doing well! But please be there to help, talk, spread the word, put up tables ( 5pm Friday 5th Sept please)etc etc

Hi again Charlotte,
Re autumn schedule, I have a list of dates the Jubilee Pavilion is available in Nov, thinking in terms of showing the Cuban film. We had also talked about the possibility of having Ben & Emily's dad do a talk on sustainable energy, and I'll follow up on that with him. A December do could be good, if we have the energy to make it fly (could get lost in the seasonal mayhem?).
I'm working on a series of quotes that I'll laminate in big letters on A4 or A3, which can be used at the flower show if wanted.
Printers - I've used a place in Bedminster Down who've been ok. PPC on 0117 953 3888, Margaret was the person I spoke to.

St Augustine and Pat Archer! A good mix! Be in touch soon.I am seeing Liz tomorrow to go over the writing. Will try and show it to you and anyone else who is around before printing. I think Andy Coomb is doing the Diary flyer so let him know any other dates please ...
